NNARS will be sponsoring the first Level-I EmComm training
course this fall in the Reno area. The classes will be held on
Sunday afternoons, starting on the 6th of October and running
through November 3rd. An exam session will follow a review
period and conclude the last class day.

This course provides full credit for the ARRL CCE "EC-001 -
Level I - Introduction to Amateur Radio Emergency Communi-
cations Course," a prerequisite to taking the ARRL CCE
EC-002 and EC-003 courses. A Level-II intermediate class is
in the planning stages for this winter.

The course will run for 5 weeks and last 3-4 hours per session
with the last session being a quick review prior to the exam.
The course is based on the Level-I material for Basic EmComm
from the ARRL. Total cost for the course is $28.00 per student
which is broken down as:

$10.00 Course Book, EmComm Level-I
$  8.00 Classroom materials
$10.00 Exam fee (payable at the final session)

**Note this class is designated a "directed self-study" class and
is not registered with ARRL. This class in not part of the Home-
land Security grant funding classes being provided by ARRL.
This class is open to all licensed amateurs regardless of ARRL
   membership.

You may pay for the classroom material and book at the time of
registration ($18.00). You may purchase the course book directly
from ARRL prior to the class starting. ($10.00). The exam fee
($10.00) is due and payable at the exam session. If you already
have the Level-I course book, they you will have a head start of
the class. Please let me know if you need the course book or if
you are purchasing it yourself. Fees are non-refundable. It is
recommended that you purchase the course book yourself before
the class starts so you can familiarize yourself with the course.

You do not need to attend the classroom instruction to take the
exam. However, you must register to take an exam on or before
October 18th. Certificates are issued directly by the ARRL for those
passing the exam and you will be notified by e-mail when your
certificate is available to download or you may optionally have it
mailed directly to you at no additional charge.

The final exam session will also offer EC-002 and EC-003 exams for
those wanting to take them. You must sign up for any exams two
weeks in advance of the exam date. Additional testing material may
not be available for "walk-in's".

If you would like to enroll in this course, please send an e-mail to
Paul Cavnar, NN7B, at: [email protected] indicating that you would
like to sign up for the class. Let me know if you will need a course
book or if you are purchasing the it directly from the ARRL. It is
required for the first class session.

This class size is limited so, if you intend to participate, please
get your name in early. Also, direct any questions to me and I will
respond as soon as possible.
