For those who might be interested, here is a situation report issued today=

from the Colorado Office of Emergency Management regarding the Hayman Fire,=

the most troublesome and threatening of the fires currently burning in=20

Hayman Fire =96 The fire has split into two halves with the dividing line=20
east to west through Deckers. Separate incident commands
have been established for =93North Hayman=94 and =93South Hayman.=94 =
Between=20
500-1000 additional firefighters should be employed
within the next two days. Reported 86,925 acres burned. Number 1 national=
=20
priority (Level V). 5% contained. Structures Threatened:
3,700 primary, 0 COMM, 20 outbuildings. Structures destroyed; 40 primary=20
reported, 4 commercial, & 20 outbuildings threatened
were reported Tuesday - will update as more information is=20
available. 3000-4000 residences evacuated. Watershed threatened. A
FEMA Fire Management Assistance Declaration was granted 6/9/02. The Douglas=

County Sheriff=3D=3Ds Office is evacuating the
following areas: Cheeseman reservoir, Crystal Peak, Deckers, Estabrook,=20
fern Creek, Florissant Heights subdivision, Flying G Girl
Scout Ranch, Goose Creek Campground, Indian Creek, Indian Creek West,=20
Insmont, JDK subdivision, Landis Ranch, Lost Acres,
Lost Valley Ranch, Lutheran Valley, Molly Gulch Campground, Nighthawk Hill,=
=20
Noodlehead, Oxyoke, Pike National Forest, Pine
Creek, Pine Lake Estates, Pine Valley Estates, Rainbow Falls, Rampart Range=
=20
Road, Scraggy View, Sphinx Park, Sportsmans
Paradise, Sugar Creek, Swiss Village, Tarryall, Toms Ranch, Trout Creek=20
Ranch subdivision, Trout Creek Ranch, Turkey Peak,

Roxborough Village, Sedalia. Douglas County street and road closures: Fern=

Creek Road (completely), Hwy 67 (south of Douglas
county line to Sugarcreek Rd), Hwy 67 (from Platte River to Sprucewood) Hwy=

67 (from Sprucewood to Oak valley Rd), Pine Creek
Rd (from Platte River to Sprucewood), Platte River Rd (from Sugarcreek Rd=20
to Platte River Hotel =96county line), Rainbow Falls Rd
(completely), Rampart Range Rd (from Hwy 67 to north of Woodland=20
Park). The Teller County Sheriff's office ordered mandatory
evacuations Tuesday (6/11) morning for: Crystal Peak Mountain area near=20
West Indian Creek subdivision, Indian Creek Subdivision
(Teller County), Florissant Heights Subdivision, Valley Hi Subdivision, and=
=20
JDK Subdivision. The Jefferson County Sheriff's
Department ordered a mandatory evacuation Monday (6/10) night for an area=20
from Highway 285 south on an east-west line to the
Jeffco/Park and Jeffco/Douglas County borders. Best figure we=3Dre getting=

number of evacuees right now is estimated at 6,000.
Will update as more information becomes available. Approximately 80 youth=
=20
and 40 staff members from the Woodbine Ranch west
of Sedalia are being evacuated to Sedalia Elementary School. All of Pike=20
Nat'l Forest evacuated. County notified with reverse 911 call
to all residents of Roxborough Park and Village to prepare for an=20
evacuation but area has not yet evacuated.
Shelter information: 5 shelters have had a population of approximately 100=
=20
overnight. Shelters at Elk Creek Elementary and Sedalia
Elementary are CLOSED. Shelters are located at Castle Rock Middle School,=20
Thunder Ridge High, Golden High School, Woodland
Park High School, Lake George Elementary also Colorado Mountain College=20
(Glenwood Springs). The Red Cross is feeding the
Incident Command at Teller County and support animal rescue at Jefferson=20
County fairgrounds as well as other numerous feeding
sites.
A 3rd Type I Team has been ordered.
North Hayman =96 A back burn will be started in the area of Forest Service=
=20
Road 550 and allowed to burn south. 6 miles NW of Lake
George, CO in Tarryall Drainage. Type 1 Incident Management Team will be=20
established at 0600 (6/12).
South Hayman =96 Incident Command has been set up at the Event Center off of=
=20
Plum Creek Parkway in Castle Rock. Type 1
Incident Management Team located at Castle Rock. Active fire runs to the=20
southeast and southwest have been observed.
