Sample Letter to Legislators on BPL
NC Hams:
After the discussion about BPL at the November Raleigh Amateur Radio
Society meeting, many hams asked about contacting their legislators to
protest BPL. They asked if there were a sample or template letter
with all the information they needed.
There was none on the ARRL web site. The ARRL felt that this was
not a grass-roots legislative matter, as there is no legislation being
considered.
Many hams felt differently, and wanted help contacting legislators.
Bob Conder K4RLC found one sample letter on eHam, but it was long,
convoluted and overly technical (just what the hams who wanted the
template were hoping to avoid). I re-wrote it, and offer it
below. It's still too long (about two printed pages), but it's as
short as I can make it and include all the information I think a
non-technical person needs to see the picture clearly. If you
decide to send this letter to your legislators, you may edit it as you
see fit, of course.
Many people feel that snail-mail has more impact on legislators than
e-mail. That's up to you.
