If you were considering buying the Ameritron AL-80B (new at best price
of $1645), I have one like new and can show working when you pick it up
for $1195.
The AL-80B is a desktop amplifier and uses a single 3-500 for 800-1000
watts output depending on drive and line voltage. It is 160-10M
including WARC bands.
Can be run from a strong 120 vac circuit or can be wired for 240 vac.
Also have an excellent condition Ten Tec Centurion amplifier (desktop
amp) for $1350 , it is 160-10M including WARC bands.
This uses a pair of 3-500 tubes for 1200-1500 watts output depending on
drive and your line voltage. I suggest 240 vac only.
The Ameritron AL-82 equivalent has a best price new at $2999
I have quite a few amps and will still have 5 left after selling these!
Why do I use and suggest 3-500 amplifiers?
Rugged and inexpensive 3-500 tube that is available from many sources
and sellers (about $150-190 per tube)
NO proprietary, expensive or easy to destroy tubes, transistors or
microprocessor anything that requires factory service.
Alpha, Acom and many others REQUIRE factory service (and with Alpha
there is only ONE guy who can fix an Alpha amp!)
ANY local competent technician can service the amplifiers I am offering
if ever necessary.
