Very sad news to report this morning.  One of the real proponents of the
Youth in Amateur Radio cause passed last night.  Ellie Van Winkle, NØQCX
succumbed to a heart attack, she was 83.  She is survived by her husband
'Rip' Van Winkle NVØM.



Ellie is most recognized as the driving force behind the 'BARC Juniors',
the youth ham radio club that was founded over 25 years ago by the Boulder
Amateur Radio Club.  Until just a couple of years ago, the BARC Juniors met
each and every week, eleven months a year, at the home of Ellie and 'Rip'
Van Winkle in Boulder.  She will be sincerely missed by many of us here in
the ham radio community.  I will miss her as a true friend as well.
