Some things to consider for Contest operating:

Directivity comes from aluminum - Gain comes from Eimac; don't confuse these
two terms.

QRP awards should go to all the other poor operators that have to pull them
out of the noise.

Once you get to the 10KW level, put the rest of your money in the antenna
system.

If your antenna stays up through the winter, it was not big enough.

The best you can hope for when using a ferrite core balun or a trap antenna
is a little loss and a little RFI.

An HF Vertical will radiate equally poorly in all directions unless you
spend 10x as much on the counterpoise as you did on the antenna.
