Richard et al, I wrote him in August, 2014 when the bill was introduced
last year and here was his reply at that time:
"Thank you for contacting me regarding amateur radio. I appreciate you
taking the time to write. It is an honor to serve you in Congress and I
hope you will continue to write with your thoughts and ideas on moving our
country forward.
On June 25, 2014, Congressman Adam Kinzinger (R-IL) introduced H.R. 4969,
the Amateur Radio Parity Act of 2014. This legislation would extend the
Federal Communications Commission's "reasonable accommodation" protections to
amateur radio hosts who are living in deed-restricted communities. Such a
modification would allow hosts living in areas controlled by builders or
homeowner's associations to more easily erect antennas. It has been
referred to the House Committee on Energy and Commerce, on which I sit.
Amateur radio hosts play very valuable roles in their communities. They
provide not only entertainment, but also important safety information in
the event of emergencies. When severe flooding impacted our state in
September 2013, amateur radio hosts worked diligently to maintain contact
with mountain communities whose communication systems had been damaged. I
am extremely grateful for the work of these individuals. Please rest
assured, I am carefully reviewing H.R. 4969 and will keep your thoughts in
mind should it come to the floor of the House for a vote.
Again, thank you for contacting me, and do not hesitate to do so again when
an issue is important to you.
Sincerely,
Cory Gardner
Member of Congress"
