Hi Dick,

Most APRS packets are in a format used by the various APRS application like
APRSIS32 or UIVIEW.
The header line that is common to all Packet transmissions:(such as
W0UPS-5*,N0ESQ-1,N0KZ-5,TDAD,ANGFIR,ELKMTN,SANDIA,WIDE3 <UI pid=F0
Len=70>[14:32:37]
is usually followed by some form of data.

As an example in the data line:
@282036z4032.88N/10506.57W_119/002g007t077r000p000P000h45b10173.DsVP
282036 is the time the data was generated by the WX station
4032.88N/10506.57W is the location of the station
The remainder is the WX data such as:
Current temp (77)
Current rain (000)
Last 24 hrs rain (000)
Current humidity (45%)
Current barometer (10173)
WX station type (Davis VantagePro)

@282036z4032.88N/10506.57W_119/002g007t077r000p000P000h45b10173.DsVP

Other packets have various formats that may include brief test messages.

The APRS applications normally decode the packets and display then on a map
of the region that can be sized for the area of interest.
The APRSIS32 is a free download with good help info for setup and use on the
website.

(UIVIEW used to be a very popular APRS application but it does not pull
"live" maps from the internet and the creator went SK many years ago.)

Subject: [NCARC] Can anyone help me decipher these APRS messages?

I understand the times in Zulu(UTC) and the latitude and longitude but much
of the message is "code" to me.

I am using SignaLink as a "TNC". If there are programs out there that use
these "codes" I would like to know.

Thank you for any and all help.
