Greetings, fellow hams:

I just met with Greg Voelz, Ride Coordinator for the Ride 4 Success (
www.ride4success.com) to get all the particulars about what he would like
to see from the hams.

Greg was not aware that hams have APRS capabilities, and was very excited
about the prospects.

As I see it, we need 7-8 ham operators to fill the following positions:

2 Sag vehicles (ridealong, with APRS or Tracking capabilities)

1 Greeley PD (ridealong with APRS or Tracking capabilities)

1 Coordinator (Honcho) ridealong with APRS

3 Aid Stations (1 @ Lincoln Park - Start/Finish NET control, 1 @ Poudre
Learning Center POUDRE AID, and 1 @ Pierce, CO - PIERCE AID (I need more
detail about the exact location.)

We are confirming that the sags and PD are amenable to temporary equipment
installations in their vehicles, and I will let you know once this is
confirmed. But the entire course could probably be worked with an HT on a
local 2M/70cm repeater (suggestions for freq?) with APRS on 144.39 .

First come, First serve, with preference given to KG6CNL - Bill, and KCØLFV
- Josh, who responded to my first e-mail . Send me e-mail @
edgage at gmail.com. I will most likely be shotgun with Honcho Greg, so that
leaves 2 SAGs, 1 GPD, 2 AID stations, and NET control @ start/finish.
Might be advisable to have 2 NET controls - 1 APRS, 1 voice, unless
somebody is feeling particularly talented.

Equipment install would be at Lincoln Park at 6:00-6:30am. Tour starts at
8:30am, and is estimated to finish around 11am at Lincoln park, which,
coincidentally, is around the time Octoberfest celebrations will start.

Those of you who have helped with my Courage Classic or other similar
events know the drill. There's a T-Shirt in it for ya, as well as bragging
rights to "being there" for the First Annual event. Rider count is
estimated in the 200's. Nice, easy, flatlander tour.

Sign-up, questions, or comments -- let me know. Ed Gage, NØTVQ, 970 -
Three Oh Two - 3455 (SMS) or via e-mail - edgage at gmail.com.

Maps and Freqs to follow shortly. Tour maps can be found on
www.ride4success.com -> rider info.

PS: I'm heading out of town, and will be out of landline/cell/email/RF
contact. Leave a message, and I'll check in on Monday.

I'd tell you a joke about UDP, but you might not get it.
I'd tell you a joke about TCP, but I'd have to keep repeating it until you
got it.
