[NCARC] Field Day Question

I wasn't able to get to the Field Day site until about 2300 (11pm) according to my APRS beacon.  I first stopped at K0EFP camper, then he showed me where Willie's motorhome was.  Willie told me that I missed everything and that the food was gone.  Then I moved my truck over to AC0YV's campsite and visited with him for awhile. I was more tired than I thought, so I headed home.  Then on Sunday night, I'm listening to the 447.275 repeater and some of the guys were talking about Field Day. One guy mentioned that he went back to Willie's motorhome for more chili about Midnight.  Now, my question is:  Why did Willie tell that all the food was gone, then I hear about people going back for more chili at Midnight.  Did I misunderstand Willie?  Or was I lied to.  I just want to find out is all.
