Dear friends,

It is with a heavy heart that I write to let you know that our dear
Joanie VerDuft, KCØGMI passed away peacefully early Tuesday afternoon,
April 23rd, 2013. Though her outward exuberance never showed it, she
bravely battled diabetes for 25 years, and fought heart disease more
recently.

Joanie had a deep love for ham radio and the many friends she met in her
years of faithful amateur radio service. She was a founding team member
for HamCon Colorado and energetically served in various capacities as
the organization's Treasurer, Secretary and Banquet Manager for its
2003, 2006 and 2009 events. At the time of her death, Joanie was an
active, creative and spirited committee member for the approaching
HamCon Colorado 2013 convention.

She obtained her Tech+ license in 2009, and was a strong supporter of
D14 ARES. She was a past member of the Colorado YLs and the Pikes Peak
Radio Amateur Association (PPRAA).

Joanie was a devoted and loving wife, mother and friend, and was active
in her church where she had served in the AWANA children's program for
10 years. She was born and raised in California, and was a retired
cosmetologist having practiced in both California and Colorado for over
40 years.

Joanie is survived by her loving husband Jerry, ADØA, her daughter Faith
Collins and stepdaughter Debbie VerDuft, both of Colorado Springs; and
their sons Jeffrey VerDuft of Savannah, GA, Randy Collins of Littleton,
CO and Lorin Barnhart of Wray, CO.

A memorial celebration of Joanie's life will be held at 2:00 PM on
Thursday, May 2nd, 2013 at the Woodmen Road Free Will Baptist Church,
7465 Horseshoe Rd., Colorado Springs, Colorado. Relatives and friends
may attend a viewing and fellowship from 10:00 AM - Noon on Thursday,
May 2nd, 2013 at Mountain View Mortuary, 2350 Montebello Square Drive in
Colorado Springs.

We plan to honor Joanie's life at HamCon Colorado 2013, June 27-30, 2013
in Estes Park.

Please keep Jerry and the entire VerDuft family in your prayers and
thoughts as they move through these difficult days.

73,

Steve
