Fellow members,
I've been an NCARC member for 27 years and a ham for 50. I've been one of the club's suppliers (repeater controllers) and was president for a few years 'way back. Believe me, NCARC has dealt with issues before and has always resolved them. (Ask us old timers about: finding frequencies for repeaters; the building fund; low attendance vs. meeting locations and days; low attendance vs. winter/summer Superfest; merging with other clubs; Field Day support; covered dish dinners; weather classes the night before Superfest; changing landlords at Horsetooth; interference and grunge; autopatch deployment; and more.) I believe these current issues will be resolved as well.
In my opinion it would be rude to upstage the BARC Juniors' presentation at the next meeting with a contentious election and/or arguments. Let's pick a meeting that has no other presentation.
Guess it's time for us somewhat-inactive types to start showing up.
See you at the next meeting!
73,
Bob, WA9FBO

Subject: [NCARC] Concerned for the club
I would make one suggestion here. Two years ago, I suggested that the board
empower a committee, on a time and agenda limited basis, to review the club
and to report formally back to the board and the general membership. Past,
present, and future status and concerns. We might want to consider this
again.
I believe strongly that many of these issues are coming about because there
is no generally understood conception of who and what this club is.
It is difficult, as now just a general member, for me to understand exactly
what is going on here. I have heard validity in each person's comments up to
this point but I still do not know how to feel or what I should do.
This committee could help clarify the club position and direction such that
decisions in the future become based more on fact than on perceptions of
what the club should be about.
PLEASE - board - consider this again.
