[NCARC] HAMFEST 2012 REQUEST FOR VOLUNTEERS

Everyone;

 

The NCARC Hamfest 2012 planning is progressing nicely.  We have about 1/3 of
the vendor tables reserved already which is ahead of last year at this time.
Very good news!

 

A special note:  Tim Chapman, owner of Arrow Antennas
(www.arrowantennas.com) from Cheyenne, will be attending and will have a
full display of his products.  He is also donating one of his antennas as a
raffle prize.  I am very excited to have Arrow at our show!

 

We still, however, need lots of volunteers to help make this year's event a
success.  Please go to the club webpage for volunteers, log in, and at the
bottom you can view descriptions of the positions we need filled on event
day and a schedule sheet with the openings still available.  In particular,
we need immediate help in these areas:

 

1.    Kids on the Radio:  we need help in setting up a station where kids
can come and get some "hands on" experience behind the microphone.  We have
a table fairly close to the exterior doors where we can get some coax out to
temporary antennas.  We would like to have an HF rig available so if you
have a portable setup that might work for this - we need your help!



2.    New Hamfest Tours:  we need several folks who are willing to take
small groups - folks new to Hamfests - and explain what's going on and then
take them on a tour to meet the vendors and exhibitors and explain what all
that stuff is on the tables!  This sounds really fun to me so if you can
assist - we need your help!



3.    Balloons and Face Painting:  We really want to include our non-ham
attendees in the fun this year and are looking to get a balloon artist and
some face painters for those kids of all ages who will be attending.
Unfortunately, the cost out there for professionals is fairly high and given
that we simply do not know how many "kids" we will have this year, hard to
justify from a cost standpoint.  If you know of someone who does these
things and would be willing to help us out or if you yourself are a
ballooner or face painter, PLEASE LET US KNOW!
