Fellow Northern Colorado Hams,
NCARC has been asked to support the Fort Collins Cycling Festival. This is the first of it's kind here in the Northern Colorado area and is planned to be around for at least the next 3 years.
Fort Collins Cycling Festival, you may ask what is it and what does it include?
- 5 Day International event in Fort Collins, August 17-21, 2011
- World Class Cyclists Races with Time trials and a final 66.8 mile race up and around the Rist Canyon, Stove Prairie and Horsetooth Dam areas.
- Vendors and Booths about cycling and the community
- An opportunity for Amateur operators to help out and participate. (We won't be on bikes though!)
- Web site: http://www.fccyclingfest.com/
What is NCARC's Part in this International Fort Collins Cycling Festival?
- NCARC has been asked to provide communications for Event tracking and emergency notifications.
- NCARC has been given a two day booth right in the middle of the event.
- NCARC is being highlighted as one of the Sponsors for the event.
- NCARC will need volunteers to help provide communications and to create, setup and man the booth for Saturday and Sunday.
What could you do for the event?
- We will need volunteers in many areas.
- SAG vehicle Communications - We provide comms partnered with a Driver.
- Aid Station Support - We provide comms for event top 5 cyclists and for supplies and emergency support.
- EMT communication - Strategically located with 2-3 Ambulance locations for communications
- Net Control - Track top 5 cyclists and provide command and control to SAG, EMT and Supply/Aid Stations.
- Booth Coordinators and Staff. We will need to have the booth operational on Saturday and Sunday. Show off what we do and how we help the community.
- We are especially going to need people with radios that can be placed in the Event Vehicles (SAG). Having a dual band radio and mag mount antenna will be imperative. The course will require a mobile radio and HTs will not be enough. You may even need to have a battery to hook directly to so that you don't blow the cigarette lighter fuse when running 35-50watts.
When:
- The day our support is needed is 21 August 2011.
- 6:30am - 5:00pm (Estimated) THe Race is all day with many starts and due to the long course will take a long time to finish.
If your interested in helping out in any of the areas please send me an e-mail. Please provide your radio equipment and if you have a preference to the type of support your interested in helping. I'm sure a lot of folks will want to do AID stations however they only have 5 so we will need more SAGs Radio Operators than anything else.
