The District Executive in the Greeley area sent this message to me and asked me if I would contact people that knew how to do satellite audio/video.  I'm not sure if anybody out there in Ham-dom would know what to do about this, but I'm meeting my end of the bargain.

Ed,

Boy Scouts of America is celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2010.    One of the many celebrations is our “A Shining Light Across America” event that will be on July 31.   This event is the capstone for our National Jamboree that is being held at Fort AP Hill in Virginia.  We are expecting that this stage show will include nationally recognized artists, guest speakers and some type of theatrical presentation.

We are looking for a venue that could support at least 1000 youth and families with the ability to scale the event if demand is significant. We expect to design some type of program around the broadcast   We are looking for a location that could display the broadcast in its 16x9 ratio video format with adequate audio.  The broadcast is available in several internet formats that are suitable for smaller audiences.  However, in order to get the quality of video feed necessary we are looking to capture and display the satellite feed.  Currently plans are for the broadcast to go out on two satellites in order to accommodate most local users.    AMC 15, KU Band  or Galaxy 19, C Band.

We are also exploring options to broadcast outdoors on large LED screens or on inflatable projection screens.

Currently I am looking for options and resources within our council that could help us make this happen.   Currently I am working on a tight deadline, February 5th, as I have to have the information for the venue back to national to secure a spot for the broadcast.

If you believe that you could assist….please do not hesitate to contact me at (970) 308 5168 or at my office (970) 584 2219
