Hi to the group,

On July 5th Howard Cary, KBØOCW, became a silent key among our community.
Below I added the little I have experienced him followed by a message from
the executor of his estate on the auctioning of his equipment this weekend.

Howard Cary was a friend of my dad who lived down the street from us when I
was still in my grade school years. He had a larger than life presence bound
by enthusiasm, laughter, and an ever-burning cigar. My brother and I enjoyed
visiting him and hanging out in his garage. Among the other amazing tools
and machinery foreign to young eyes we held a special interest of the
motorcycle he let us play on in there. We didn’t know what a Goldwing was at
that age, but it was as big and fancy as anything we had ever seen.

My knowledge of his history and activity in the ham community isn't much
beyond those few memories. He moved out of the neighborhood and I lost track
of him until I met with him at an LRA meeting a few years back. At that time
he was distraught about the passing of his wife and how unbelievably busy he
was just trying to get everything in his life in order. I regret that was
the last time I visited with him.
