Dan,

I have written several articles for QST and two are in the queue as we
speak. Attached are the articles. They have suggestions on their web site
but reading my articles might give you an idea what they are looking for.

They like article that apply to the general ham. Not to technical. The more
technical articles end up in QEX. They like articles that hams can build
with a minimal of technical knowledge and ability. Articles that cove
something different are always welcome. Specialty articles on antennas will
generally end up in their antenna issue in July. Sometimes they group
articles by issue.

Give me you thought and I might be able to give you suggestions.

Mike

And ...... While on this subject.

I have some ideas for articles for QST but need to know what the boys use
for making those drawings of antennas and parts as shown in QST articles?

Who has written articles (or knows how to do it) and can help me with the
right tools for making a publication ready article?

While we're on the topic of schematic/layout software, you might want to
take a look at KiCad... an open source, free suite. I use it professionally
and it works great.
