FYI-- I think Willis makes an excellent point about not worrying about the
dues timing and instead focusing on getting more members.... his opinion
is below.

Hi Steve,

I will be sending the roster out after I get back from the Wyoming trip
and will update it with your renewal.

At $25/yr, the dues are 2.08/mo or 0.48/wk.

Perhaps I did not understand what value was being added by changing the
current system.

I though the original concept was to make all dues payable on January 1
of each year for those persons who do not pay attention to the roster
that is sent out during the year.

It makes no difference to me what system is used.
Changing from the current system will just impact what the checking
balance is at any given time during the year. The current system
provides for minimal changes of the balance from month-to-month.
An annual due date will produce the largest transition of the checking
balance with a significant low just before all the renewals are due.
As long as we do not encounter a need for large expenditures during the
low balance time, there should be no problem. If such a situation does
come up, we just wait till the renewal date to proceed with the expense.

A more important issue would be getting a team in place to recruit
members throughout the year as our numbers have shown a steady decline
in recent years.

Hi Willis-

One other item I just remembered-- I just mailed my NCARC renewal to the
PO
box. On the topic of renewals, we discussed at the last officers
meeting
adjusting the dues so they are due for renewal on the same calendar date
for
everyone. There would be a simple pro-rating system for hams joining
NCARC
throughout the year. For example, if all dues were due on Oct 1st, then
anyone joining the club after October 1 but before Mar 1 would pay full
dues
and anyone joining between Mar 1 and Sept 1 would pay 1/2 dues. There
wasn't very much discussion on the partial dues so we could come up with
something that seemed reasonable. Any thoughts on this overall
proposal?
Would you favor something like this?

Hi Steve,

I do not use any "reflectors" for e-mail.

I have an e-mail list of all active members that I used to send out the
newsletter with the BCC feature on MS Outlook Express.

I am leaving for western Wyoming this afternoon and hope to return on
Sunday 21 September.

Chris Howard has the same e-mail list since he is doing the newsletter
and he should be able to send to the NCARC membership with any
announcements as well.

I will miss the ARES meeting tomorrow and the picnic on the 20th but I
will catch up on things when I get back from the trip. The NCARC
checking is sitting at just over $9800 with no expenses pending that I
am aware of.

Hi Willis-

I'm going to be sending out maybe 2-3 announcements on the picnic--
could
you make sure that each one also goes out on the membership reflector?
See
text below to forward.

Thanks!
