QST to all amateurs and friends of ham radio--

A guest speaker back by popular demand-- our February NCARC meeting will
feature Virgil Leenerts, W0INK in a presentation on making repeaters work in
high RF environments. Virgil has been involved with consulting and helping
run experiments on the 145.115 repeater. Changes recommended by Virgil have
already resulted in a partial improvement of the de-sense and noise problems
on the 145.115.

This presentation will cover the basic parts of the repeater system, how RF
signals and noise interfere with repeaters, where filtering helps and
doesn't help, and in general how you discover and fix noise and de-sense
problems in high RF environments. Included is an analysis of our
Vertex-7000 repeater showing where it is sensitive to signals and why the
latest changes have made an improvement. We will also cover the next steps
in our plan to get the 145.115 operating as best as possible.

Please plan on attending-- especially if you are interested in learning from
a master at RF and noise issues.
