[NCARC] discrete HF antennas

Hey, all,
In anticipation of the morse code requirement being eliminated on Feb 23
and my passing the general class written exam sometime shortly
thereafter, I have a few questions about HF operation:
I live in a covenant-restricted neighborhood and am looking for a
discrete vertical HF antenna preferably less than 8 feet long for
operation on the 6, 10, 15, and 20 meter bands. A mobile antenna such as
the Comet HMC-6S or an antenna that requires a tuner such as the Icom
AH-2B would be acceptable to me. The less radials and flyswatters
hanging off the antenna the better. In all likelihood, the radio will be
an Icom IC-706MKIIG or an Icom IC-7000.
Does anybody have any recommendations for such an antenna?
If a tuner is required, does anybody have any recommendations for a tuner?
Would I be better off stringing a wire across the backyard or in the
attic and using a tuner?
Also, are there any advantages to the IC-7000 over the IC-706MKIIG other
than that the display looks much easier to read on the IC-7000?
Thanks,
Glen
