All,
I was able to arrange the tower crew to come up to move the .115
repeater antenna on Saturday, 11.6.2004. They plan to arrive at the site
at 8 a.m., however, they will be working for my employer first. I hope
to have that work completed by 10-11 a.m. In the meantime, I plan to
take the repeater off the air, remove the antenna from Mr. Redfern's
tower, and have it moved over to its new location. As you know, this is
a job that will require more than one person. Many of you expressed a
willingness to help, however, the hilltop is space-limited and a ton of
people is not necessary. I figure anywhere from 4-6 people will be
required. Here's a list of what is needed. For those of you willing to
help, keep in mind that a four wheel-drive vehicle is required to get to
the top of the hill. For insurance purposes, I am not able to have
passengers in my truck, so count me out as a ride up there.
1. A 400' rope and pulley (preferably anti-stat line.
2. A 200' rope for a tag-line (This is not an absolute requirement, but
it is nice to have.
3. Someone who is willing to climb Mr. Redfern's tower and has a
climbing belt. This tower is relatively easy to climb, but prior
experience is definitely preferred. I will be "on the clock" during
the VHF antenna removal and my company prohibits me from climbing.
If I can't find anyone, I will use the tower company.
4. Hand tools. I have plenty, but not enough for everyone.
Now, for some obvious stuff. Plan to be up there for several hours.
Bring food, plenty of water and dress for the weather.
I understand that this is short notice, but I would appreciate offers to
help as soon as possible. You can email me here, or you can call me at
(303)961-0841. Thanks.
George, AB0SF
