All,
With the gracious assistance of David Langenberg,
KC9FOO and Eric Slutz, N0EAS, our most recent club
member, I was able to remove the Rawhide repeater from
its location near the Rawhide Power Plant. N0EAS and I
were able to drive up to the Horsetooth Mt. repeater
site and install this repeater in the .115 machine's
place. The .115 repeater and its duplexer has been
removed from the site and is now in my basement,
awaiting troubleshooting, once the service manuals
arrive.
The 20 Watt signal of the 146.625 machine should
provide coverage slightly less than the .115 machine
did. There is no autopatch on this machine at the
present time. I am still in the process of determining
the status of the phone line repair, anyway, so the
feature will also not be available on the UHF machine
until further notice.
I also installed a 100 W amplifier on my 224.520
repeater. With about 60 W out after all is said and
done, I've given the repeater a +10 dB boost in signal
and it is quite noticable. If you have 220 capability,
I welcome you to use the machine. Coverage has
noticably improved to the north along 287, but I have
not driven around any further than that.
If anyone has access to, or would like to part with a
test set for the Motorola MSR-2000 series
repeater/base stations, I would love to hear from you.
The Motorola number should be TRN5080ARP. This little
piece of gear makes troubleshooting Batwings equipment
world's easier. You can reach me via email or at
(303)961-0841.
As for the IRLP box, I'm still in denial that it's
ready to go and sitting beside me as I type (Kind of
lie my Christmas cards.). I figured I'll get cracking
on this as soon as I get the VHF repeater working,
unless someone wants to give this project a crack.
Linux and IP knowledge is a definite plus. Let me know
if you feel up to the task.
I will continue to keep everyone posted as progress
continues.
George, AB0SF
