Hi folks-

Help--- need your assistance for a worthy project!!

Rick Huebner (W0RCY) received a message from a ham who needs some help
taking down an antenna (see message at the end of this email). If you go
out to http://www.questkit.com/13_09a.jpg you can see a picture that Rick
took at the site. I'd like to organize a work party to safely dissassemble
this antenna setup sometime between August 8 and August 14 depending upon
volunteer availability.

I'm looking for the following:

a) the whereabouts of the NCARC gin pole.
b) 2-3 volunteers, at least one of which has experience climbing towers and
has experience doing this sort of work
c) someone who has a good quality climbing belt we can borrow (does NCARC
have one of these and if so who has it?)
d) from anyone/everyone on this list--- pointers about what should (and
shouldn't) be done to safely accomplish this task ;)

Pizza and drinks will be provided. This will probably be an useful
education for those of us (myself included) who have never actively taken
down a tower before.

Please reply back by August 7 with any information and your willingness to
help (+ your schedule) so we can tell Marilyn (W9LUO) whether or not NCARC
can help with this task.

My late father's antenna in Fort Collins has a tower around 30 feet high
which starts on the ground and goes up next to a second floor deck on my
parents' house. It has a Mosley beam and rotor on the tower. I would
like to have this taken down so that I could bring it home (probably
have it shipped). I have no experience with towers and would like to
find some hams who could take the whole assembly down (there are a
couple of wire antennas going from tower to roof also). I can't afford
to pay a lot for this, but certainly pizza and soft drinks (or beer)
would be included for people who worked on this. I live in Evanston,
Illinois, and will be in Fort Collins from August 8 through the 16 (plus
evening before and morning after). The antenna is at 2502 Creekwood
Drive if anyone would like to look at it. My mother's phone number is
970-221-5647. Can anyone in the Northern Colorado Amateur Radio Club
help me with this? If you would help for a fee, please let me know what
that would be.
