Here is a different way to be active as a HAM.

Tomorrow, Saturday, the 6th of December, the EOSS will fly
thier 73rd high altitude "weather balloon" from thier launch
site near Windsor. Take highway 392 1.3 miles east of I-25
then head south on county road 3 about 1/2 mile. Look for
the gathering on the east side of the road south of the big
green shed.

Other than the need to be up that early, you may find this
to be not only fun but enlightening. Bring along the whole
family for a little different entertainment. Maybe we can
light the spark for new HAMS.

The launch is scheduled for 08:00 so plan on getting there a
little before that. The flight lasts about 2 hours and will
carry about 10 student payloads plus the EOSS payloads to an
altitude of around 95,000 feet with a parachute recovery out
near Limon. I would not expect visitors to remain for the entire
flight.

Skills & techniques displayed will include but not be limited to:
  Ballooning
  APRS, position reporting reporting
  Direction Finding
  Net Control
  Radio Telementry
Display of Dynamic Data on Excel Spreadsheets via Visual Basic
  Cat Herding

Dress warm and bring gloves, a hat and donuts for me.

Hope to see ya there.
