Greetings,

Severe weather season is upon us and for those who are trained spotters and
licensed hams, we would like to invite you to participate with us. We are
doing some things differently this year in that we will have our own, Severe
Weather e-mail reflector, capable of doing mass notification of our spotters
who have opted to be a part of that system. This frees up the other
reflectors for people who have little interest or are little or no time to
deal with weather related events.

The idea behind this is for people who have text paging on their phones and
or pagers, e-mail that pops up at work or where ever they may be, to be
alerted as soon as possible that we are going on the air with a net.
Indicating whether we are formal at the time brief synopsis of needs for
mobiles, and potentially what areas the weather is in or expected. This
allows us to get more eyes on the sky & operators on the air, in a much more
timely manor.

In addition, if there are weather related topics, training information,
products that may be of interest, assistance or otherwise beneficial to
spotters this is the forum that information will be made available.

We encourage people to sign up as many of their notification methods, I.E.
text pagers, cell phones, e-mail as they like to enhance their notification
options. Postings to the reflector however are restricted to those
locations or accounts you have registered to the list All others are
rejected.

We anticipate putting out warnings, watches etc on this reflector but only
on the severe weather reflector COARES-D10WX. You can register at
WWW.Yahoogroups.com <http://www.yahoogroups.com/> for the reflector or if
you have any difficulty registering, please drop me a line at [email protected]
<mailto:[email protected]> and I will make sure you are signed up on the
reflector.

We will be posting very soon our contact information for Net Controls on
this reflector and on the D-10 website. If there are other operators who
have weather experience and net control experience we are still short a few
slots being filled.

We wish you a good, safe and productive severe weather season.
