Thank you for the terminology correction.  I have a lot to learn, clearly!

I'll try to make a meet-up soon.  In the meantime, any suggestions on where to start in getting set up on the network?  I'm looking for any help at all.

Cheers -

Thank you!  I don't have any equipment yet, but I am looking to put up a node.

I understand that MVMA has special challenges to overcome with terrain that makes it ... difficult for normal mesh settings.

Please advise on my best options! :)

Microwave frequencies have unique challenges.
For one, they do not travel through dirt or water.
Green vegetation looks similar to water to microwaves.
'mesh' is a topology, 802.11n is a protocol. I do not understand 'mesh settings'.
Standard Wi-Fi modes are Access Point, Client, and Ad-hoc.
AREDN networking uses the 'Ad-hoc' mode.
The 'Mesh' topology is not a requirement, in fact, AREDN performs most poorly
when deployed in mesh topology.
Point-to-point and point-to-multipoint topology typically performs much better.
Perhaps better known as 'star', 'hub', LAN, or VLAN topology.
