I understand about the maintenance and security headaches involved, and I considered those issues. My Metronet service is
mainly for devices that need net access but which are not security critical, such as my ADS-B receiver feed to FlightAware
and a couple of remote access receivers and some test equipment. I keep Spectrum around for critical stuff since they are
better at the maintenance and security tasks, even If they are merely useful idiots at best.
Anything behind the reverse proxy (an NGINX implementation) would be non-critical. I think the MVMA server would fit that
category, no offense. By that I mean that a hacker wouldn't have much to gain other than just generally screwing it up for
fun.
And maybe I am still missing the point.
I'd be interested in hearing what Bill had to say last night.
