  Local network connected nodes,
not tunneled and do not have internet access,
can be upgraded to current stable
after a value change in the 'Advanced Configuration' tab.

Click 'Advanced Settings' tab.
In 'Config Setting' 'aredn. at downloads[0].firmwarepath'
set to value 
'http://nc8q-mesh-server.local.mesh/mesh/downloads.arednmesh.org/firmware'
Click 'Save Setting'.
Click 'Administration' tab.
In 'Firmware Update' section, click 'Refresh'.
Click drop-down arrow on 'Select Firmware'.
Click desired firmware.
Click 'Download'.
Back away from the keyboard and mouse for 5 minutes.
