[MVMA] Status of Vandalia water tank mesh

Chuck,

We discussed this issue among ourselves via e-mail in late December of last
year. Nothing was posted on the reflector.

I have a Netgear eight port switch and you supplied me with a VLAN
configuration. Everything worked fine initially, but at some point through
some kind of apparent DHCP snafu, I was no longer able to communicate with
my switch via my internal network. I would get a warning box telling me
that the switch was in a different subnet, if I remember the prompt
correctly. Although the switch seemed to work properly even if I
couldn't get to it, that defeated the purpose because I was trying to set
up the switch so I could add other accessories later.

Also, I have only four ports on my router, and I need each. If I use one
for the switch, then I must have access to the switch configuration in case
I have issues with the non-mesh device that was connected directly to the
router but now would be connected to the switch. And of course, if I can't
communicate with the switch, housekeeping like firmware updates are very
much complicated.

I assume this is a rather trivial problem for someone with decent
networking skills to fix, but I am not among that group.

Ken
