Installfest Information

One of the things we like to do is help other people use and enjoy Linux.
To that end, we sponsor several Installfests each year,
where anyone who would like help installing or configuring Linux (or any 
Free software, really) can bring their systems and get hands-on assistance.

Our next Installfest will be held at /*5800 Clyo Road*/ on Saturday, 
September 7th, 2019.

It´s at Sinclair Community College’s new Centerville Campus which is 
located at 5800 Clyo Road.
The Installfest will run from 8am to 12pm, but be sure to arrive by 11am 
if you would like to get help with an installation.

Bring your computer, or your Raspberry Pi and an SD card.
(We’ll have a few SD cards available for sale in case you don’t have one 
yet.)
We’ll have keyboards and mice on-hand.
Monitors will be available, but bringing the monitor you intend to use 
with your system is best, just to be sure everything works together.

We´ll help you install, configure, or tweak your system to get 
everything working just the way you want.
We’ll also be glad to answer any questions that you have about Linux or 
other Free software.

We´ll have some of the most common Linux distributions on hand, but
be sure to let us know ahead of time if there is a particular distro you 
want or if you have unusual hardware of some kind.
That way, we can try to be prepared to help you.

If you have an operating system and/or data already on your system and 
want to keep it, please be sure to back it up before coming.
It´s usually possible to install Linux alongside your current operating 
system without losing anything, but accidents do happen.

There will be pizza & snacks (provided by Sinclair), and you’re welcome 
to come by even without a computer,
just to hang out and talk about computers or help other folks.

We will have some tech talks going on in the room next door – see below 
for the schedule.
