MVMA meeting December 08, 2018, held at the DARA clubhouse.

Meeting opened at 09:37 AM.

Attendance:
  Chuck NC8Q, Moe AB8XA, Reuben W8GUC, Bill WA8APB, Fred W8LLY, John 
W8LRJ, Gary N8SPY, Wynn W6CDR.

Reports:
  Bill WA8APB: 'MVMA Finances' with spreadsheet presentation,
     'MVMA Inventory' with printed spreadsheet,
     'Treasurer report' with printed spreadsheet

Old Business:

  * XWARN reimbursement: Invoice for $233.xx should be presented to Bob
    N8ADO. Update pending for next month's meeting.
  * DARA reimbursement: Waiting on DARA board. Tabled.

New Business:

  * Chuck: Motion to purchase items ('Items not billed' from page 2 of
    'MVMA Finances')
    from Bill for $700. Seconded. Discussed. Voted and passed.
  * Ask Tim N8NQH if he has any MVMA items held for testing or repair.
  * Discussion of DARA/XWARN 'mesh' link. Suggested that this is the
    business of DARA and XWARN. MVMA may offer advice.
  * Committee: Moe AB8XA, Phil KA8ZKR, Bob N8ADO, and Jim WB8QZZ.
  * Re-aim/Remount 5 GHz AirGrid at MVMA toward DARA. Re-aim/Remount
    NS-M5 at MVMA toward (W-Xenia or XWARN). Champion: Moe AB8XA.
  * KAS: John W8LRJ was volunteered to champion the future of the KAS
    site. Please offer suggestions and keep him informed.
    The status of KAS will be a standing report for awhile.
  * EMCOMM/AUXCOMM: I would like to have this be a standing report with
    information of any 'mesh' related activity in OH-D3 ARES.
    Champion: John W8LRJ. PLease, Reuben W8GUC and Bob N8ADO assist John
    and seek guidance from Henry W8HJR and Fred W8LLY.
  * MVMA inventory has been moved to the DARA clubhouse storage area.

Formation Committee: Fred W8LLY is working on a draft. Tabled until next 
meeting. This will be a standing report until completed.

Open mike:

There was some discussion of adding another node at MVHS to support 
another high speed data link
with a former mesher rebuilding his station at a new location.

  * The former mesher is seeking, at no cost to MVMA, a standard dual
    stream link at up to 20 MHz bandwidth to achieve a high speed link.
  * One member seeking to force meshers to use the existing 1/2
    bandwidth single stream link because 'that is what it is there for'.

This issue is unresolved.

Show and Tell:

  * Chuck NC8Q brought a MikroTik LHG-XL-HP5 28dBm 27dBi 5 GHz grid dish.
  * Moe AB8XA brought a RB952Ui-5ac2nD which can replace all the
    features of the former Ubiquiti AirRouter, plus it has a 5GHz WiFi
    port (for laptops, cameras, ...).
