If you want to know if XWARN is interested, I'd recommend you and Chuck do a presentation to the club . That may have to wait until January. The December meeting is a Christmas social at Golden Corral, and I don't know if a presentation would work at that event.

After this success, there seems to be some discussion about creating a DARA <> XWARN link.

This success was HUGE for the MVMA. We now have an all RF path from XWARN in North Xenia all the way up through DARA to AE8I near Tipp City… but with no redundancy. If the MVMA MVHS or MVMA W Xenia Water tank sites go down, the XWARN site is orphaned, as are any AUXCOMM stations deployed in Xenia.

With a DARA <> XWARN link, the MVMA would have a redundant triangle consisting of DARA (B-Road), MVMA (MVHS), and XWARN (North Xenia) sites.

.... I'd recommend high gain dishes (~27 dBi) and 28 dBm transmitters at each end.

The newly AREDN-supported MikroTik grid reflector nodes I previously recommended off list for this application meets those specs.

That’s the international version but it appears the US version may cover our channels with AREDN firmware.

Is XWARN interested?

  Is MVMA interested?

This isn’t just for XWARN. It provides a redundant DARA B-Road <> MVMA MVHS path if one of the nodes in that link go down. It provides a link from MVMA MVHS through DARA to the MVMA W Xenia water tank site if one of the nodes in that MVMA link go down. It benefits the MVMA, which includes DARA and XWARN. It’s not us vs them.

N8ADO, KA8ZKR, and I are XWARN members. I can’t speak for them, but I am interested, as should be anyone who cares about AUXCOMM, especially in the Xenia tornado target zone. XWARN funding would have to be discussed and approved at a meeting.

Considering the benefits, the MVMA as a whole should be interested. I suggest we address this at the next meeting.
