The MVMA met Saturday, November 10th, at 9:30AM at the BARC Club House.

In attendance were:

Bill reported only the nominations part of his survey, and promised to post the entire results to the MVMA email list. We need to know who’s interested in what.

Bill distributed a printed paper inventory sheet and took an action item to get the digital copy of the spreadsheet to JJ to store with the financial info on his mesh server.

Bill also has yet to deliver his email list, promised last month, to Stan and/or Moe for inclusion in the MVMA email list.

The nominations were:
President: NC8Q Chuck Gelm by Moe and Reuben
Vice-President: W8GUC Reuben Meeks, AB8XA Moe Riggins by each other in the survey
Secretary: AB8XA Moe Riggins, by himself
Treasurer: N8JJ John Joseph, by those Bill only specified as several.

There was considerable discussion on establishing an MVMA club, something never done. Both Fred Stone, N8LLY, D3 EC and Henry Ruminski, W8HJR, GC EC, espoused MVMA should be a club independent of ARES, as are UVARC, BARC, and XWARN, with some members who participate in ARES and some who don’t. Participation in emergencies is based on requirements met by individuals—not by the club.  This doesn’t preclude MVMA having MoUs with D3, GCARES, and MCARES.

Chuck Gelm,  NC8Q was elected interim president and a committee was created to define, develop, and propose club purpose, structure, membership, etc. Continuing past practice, these were voted on by those present. The committee is led by Chuck and consists of nominated officers, Reuben, Moe, and JJ, with Mark Atwell, representing Wilmington. Henry and Fred will officially act as advisors and bear no committee responsibilities. Bob and/or Phil will advise for XWARN and Rob will do so for Hamilton.

Bill posed the question should we keep KAS and that was tabled.

Chuck demonstrated his portable tunnel video phone and presented some of the things a PBX can do with Mark Herson, N2MH’s PBX add-ons and MeshPhone network.

It was decided to attempt to install an AGM5 on the DARA tower and link DARA to MVHS on Monday at 10:00AM if weather permits. Bill and Phil will climb DARA again, with Reuben’s and Ron’s help at the base. Chuck and Moe will be on the roof at MVHS.
