…all the nodes on the same channel significantly impacts latency with more handshaking, which affects voip.
Ideal approach is to dtdLink all the nodes together and put them all on different channels.
The 'mesh' per se is not at the RF level, rather above that at the IP level.
…putting everything on the same RF channel will have reduced performance and won't scale. (…won’t scale to anywhere near a dozen Channel -2 omnis! An expensive lesson.)
The dozen:
WA8APB Channel -2 Omni
KA8ZKR Channel -2 Omni
N8NQH Bellbrook Channel -2 omni
N8NGH S Xenia Channel -2 omni
N8NQH N8DCP Channel -2 omni
KE8MVM Vandalia Channel -2 Omni decommission or stop
interferes w/DARA,
OLSR won’t use 2-hops
KE8MVM Helke Road Channel -2 Omni- decommission
interferes w/DARA,
OLSR won’t use 2-hops
KE8MVM MVHS Channel -2 omni replace with AGM2
aimed at KAS & WA8APB [1]
replace AGM5 with NSM3
aimed at W Xenia NSM3 [2]
KE8MVM W Xenia Channel -2 omni replace with M2 sector
aimed XWARN & Xenia [3]
replace NSM5 with NSM3
aimed at MVHS NSM3 [2]
KE8MVM KAS Tower Channel -2 Omni proceed w/purchased
Bullet M2/filter/L-Com
KAS Omni SSID: AREDN-W
XWARN N Xenia Channel -2 Omni keep omni as is
XWARN Omni SSID: AREDN-E
NSM5 out on side arm [4]
DARA Channel -2 Omni leave for W8GUC & AE8I
DARA Omni SSID: AREDN-N
Notes:
[1] 2.4 omni at KAS on a line between MVHS and WA8APB AGM2s
[2] Brings cross-mesh link up from 10 MHz SISO to 20 MHz MIMO
3.4 omni at N8NQH Bellbrook on line between MVHS & W Xenia.
[3] Helps keep its 2.4 RF out of DARA omni and KAS nodes
Should get our nodes below the tank obstruction light
[4] Radiation to WA8APB NSM5 probably blocked by tower leg
