It's important we keep all our nodes to-the-minute up to date and accurate on the AREDN map. Visitors and potential new meshers rely on this, and our presence there reflects on our quality and currency.
Sometime back, when I began working with Randy to clean it up, there were over a dozen dead/replaced/decommissioned nodes in our mesh that showed years-old firmware. This made us look bad and frustrated visitors with non-existent nodes. Today, the vast majority on the map run current 3.18.9.0, or 3.16.2.0. Several still run 3.16.1.1. Today, only a few active nodes in our mesh run years-old 3.16.1.0 and earlier. Overall, we look pretty current.
Most of the KE8MVM omnis are now back in the see-all / low LQ configuration and have incorrect information on the map that will prevent linking with them. They need to be updated so visitors can rely on the map data to link with them.
When one does an upgrade, click the Upload Data to AREDN Servers button. If that is grayed out, it’s because the node isn’t connected to the Internet. Chuck, NC8Q, has been periodically activating his Mesh Gateway to light up that button for these nodes and allow them to reach AREDN servers.
Please help us with this by keeping your nodes up-to-date with firmware and AREDN map data.
Thanks,
—
