[MVMA] Winlink: Global Radio Email

Hello, Chuck and Moe –

Thank you for your comments—most of which are valid—and I’ve heard “it all” many times before. I’m not going to argue or debate any of those points. I’ll leave it to Bill to follow-up with response to your questions

Granted, Winlink is not for everyone and nobody is forcing anyone to get involved with Winlink. Winlink, however, is becoming more popular within the ARES Emcomm community in certain areas and Greene County ARES has an interest in promoting it as a supplemental Data Comm resource – for those interested in doing so. So, if you and others are NOT interested in Winlink, that’s fine—just like some other hams may not really be interested in getting involved in modes that most interest you—but please don’t “knock” Winlink for others who may be interested. Thanks.

Please don’t take this personally—we’re still friends and we’ll work together within our common interests.

73, Fred W8LLY

I serve as the Sysop for the W8GCA WinLink RMS station(s). Will be happy to answer your questions; will call you later this evening.

Hi, Bill:

 Thanks.

I was hoping you would reply in text in the ilk of a FAQ answer
so that you might need not call another 1 to 50 folks, individually, later in the evening
to explain 'All About Winlink in Greene County Ohio ARES'.
;-)
I will be home around civil twilight, 20:52.
(After the last golf cart is returned and put in the cart barn.)

Fred:

Is there a document or memorandum defining how Winlink will be utilized in Greene
County EMCOMM?

Chuck
