I put up my NSM5 today, and aligned it to the Simpson 5GHz node. I adjusted
distance setting as close as I could get it, to actual distance. (Actual
5.25 mi, Set to 5.59 mi).
Initial readings show S/N around 20 db, with 100 LQ from both ends. Link
speed was reading about 36 Mbps. That seems to make sense, given that the
link between my 2.4 omni and the XWARN 2.4, is reporting about 18 Mbps..
using half the bandwidth.
Visual path appears clear. much of my western exposure is now blocked by
trees that were not there 3 years ago, but the slot to XWARN appears clear.
I did tweak the alignment of the NS.. and found that my first estimate could
not be improved upon.
Still have my home node auto-booting. Will try to get some services off it
this weekend.
JJ: I pulled your 900 NS down, have it inside the house.
Worth looking at: Wonder how much we can improve the APB-XWARN link by
going to an AirGrid at my end.. Have a rotatable AG on my mast.. probably
worth a shot, if I can cajole the rotor into moving.
