Public Information Statement
National Weather Service Mount Holly NJ
934 AM EDT Sat Nov 2 2019
...Growing Season Has Ended for Much of the Region...
...Frost and Freeze Products Have Ended for the Season...
Minimum temperatures early this morning dropped to 32 degrees or
lower across much of the region, including most of New Jersey,
southeastern Pennsylvania, and northern Delmarva. Freezing
conditions were sufficiently widespread that the growing season
can be declared over for areas where it had not previously ended.
This terminates the Autumn Frost/Freeze Program for the following
counties:
In Pennsylvania: Lehigh, Northampton, Berks, Chester, Montgomery,
Bucks, Delaware, and Philadelphia.
In New Jersey: Hunterdon, Morris, Somerset, Middlesex, Mercer,
Monmouth, Ocean, Burlington, Camden, Gloucester, Atlantic, Cape May,
Cumberland, and Salem.
In Maryland: Cecil, Kent, Queen Anne's, Talbot and Caroline.
In Delaware: New Castle, Kent, and Sussex.
Note, the growing season had previously ended for Carbon and Monroe
Counties in Pennsylvania, and Warren and Sussex Counties in New
Jersey. Also note, while the urbanized Philadelphia County did not
fall below freezing, local policy is to declare the growing season
over for that county when it is declared over for all surrounding
counties.
Frost Advisories or Freeze Warnings will no longer be issued for the
counties listed above for the remainder of 2019. The frost/freeze
program will resume in Spring 2020.
