...THE FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 745 PM EDT FOR
SUSSEX...NORTHWESTERN WARREN...CARBON AND MONROE COUNTIES...
At 434 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated the thunderstorms that
produced the heavy rain a short time ago have moved out of the
warned area. Another line of thunderstorms and heavy rain will move
back across the warned area once again during the next hour.
Rainfall rates have been between two and three inches per hour with
these storms. Locales experiencing heavy rain from both clusters of
thunderstorms have the greatest potential to experience flash
flooding.
Some locations that could experience flooding include...
Port Jervis, Lehighton, Montague, Mount Pocono, East Stroudsburg,
Tobyhanna, Palmerton, Jim Thorpe, Nesquehoning, Hamburg, Weatherly,
Sussex, Branchville, Stormville, High Point, Werry Lake, Pocono
Pines, Millbrook, Lake Harmony and Vernon Valley.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Find an alternate route.
A Flash Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring.
If you are in the warned area move to higher ground immediately.
Residents living along streams and creeks should take immediate
precautions to protect life and property.
