The National Weather Service in Mount Holly NJ has issued a
* Flood Advisory for...
Northwestern Morris County in northern New Jersey...
Sussex County in northwestern New Jersey...
Northeastern Warren County in northwestern New Jersey...
* Until 700 PM EDT.
* At 301 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. Over one inch of rain has already fallen in a short
amount of time for some areas. This will cause flooding in the
advisory area, especially in urban and poor drainage areas.
* Some locations that could experience flooding include...
Port Jervis, Newton, Montague, Hopatcong, Hackettstown, Mount
Arlington, Franklin, Stanhope, Hamburg, Netcong, Ogdensburg,
Sussex, Branchville, Andover, High Point, Lake Mohawk, Greendell,
Millbrook, Vernon Valley and Green Pond.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as
well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.
In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Find an alternate route.
A Flood Advisory means river or stream flows are elevated, or ponding
of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent.
