...EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 PM EDT
SUNDAY...

* HEAT INDEX VALUES...Near 100 this afternoon, 102 to 107 on
Friday afternoon, 107 to 112 on Saturday afternoon, and 104 to
  109 on Sunday afternoon.

* TEMPERATURES...Maximum readings near 90 this afternoon, in the
middle and upper 90s on Friday afternoon, near 100 on Saturday
afternoon, and in the upper 90s on Sunday afternoon. Overnight
lows will range mainly from the middle 70s to the lower 80s.

* TIMING...The most dangerous of the heat and humidity will occur
from mid afternoon into the early evening each day.

* IMPACTS...The excessive heat and humidity may cause heat stress
or heat stroke. The most susceptible individuals are the
elderly and those with pre-existing health issues.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When
possible, reschedule strenuous activities to the early morning or
the late evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion
and heat stroke. Wear light weight and loose fitting clothing.
Drink plenty of water.

To reduce your risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety
and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest
breaks in a shaded or air conditioned environment. Anyone overcome
by heat should be moved to a cool shaded location. Heat stroke is
an emergency, call 9 1 1.

An Excessive Heat Warning means that a prolonged period of
dangerously hot temperatures will occur. The combination of hot
temperatures and high humidity will create a DANGEROUS SITUATION.
Stay in an air-conditioned environment, stay out of the sun, and
check on elderly relatives and neighbors.

Young children and pets should never be left unattended in a
vehicle under any circumstance. This is especially true during hot
weather when a car's interior can reach lethal temperatures in a
matter of minutes.
