The National Weather Service in Mount Holly NJ has issued a
* Flood Warning for...
Central Morris County in northern New Jersey...
Hunterdon County in northwestern New Jersey...
Southwestern Sussex County in northwestern New Jersey...
Warren County in northwestern New Jersey...
Northwestern Somerset County in northern New Jersey...
Eastern Lehigh County in eastern Pennsylvania...
Southeastern Carbon County in northeastern Pennsylvania...
Northwestern Bucks County in southeastern Pennsylvania...
Southeastern Monroe County in northeastern Pennsylvania...
Northampton County in eastern Pennsylvania...
* Until 600 PM EST.
* At 153 PM EST, National Weather Service Doppler Radar and
automated rain gauges indicated that over two inches of rain had
fallen across portions of the warned area the last 12 hours. With
a layer of frozen ground, the water is having a hard time seeping
into the soil. As a result, ponding on roadways and flooding of
poor drainage areas is widespread and quick responding creeks and
rivers are reaching or exceeding bankfull. The Pequest River at
Pequest is above flood stage. The Little Lehigh is running high in
Allentown as is Manocacy Creek in Bethlehem. Pohopoco Creek is
running high in Kresgeville as is the Neshanic River in Reaville.
The Lamington River is running high at Burnt Mills as is the
Whippany river in Morristown. All of these rivers and creeks are
within one foot of flooding. Besides the flooding in Pequest,
additional flooding is likely this afternoon.
* Some locations that could experience flooding include...
Allentown, Easton, Morristown, Newton, Bethlehem, Dover, Hopatcong,
Forks, Emmaus, Northampton, East Stroudsburg, Hackettstown,
Quakertown, Wilson, Bedminster, Wharton, Washington, Rockaway,
Blairstown and Hellertown.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Turn around...don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
A Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring. All
interested parties should take necessary precautions immediately.
