...THE FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 945 AM EDT FOR
NORTHEASTERN MONMOUTH COUNTY...
At 722 AM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated
thunderstorms had produced heavy rain over the warned area overnight
and early this morning. Two to four inches of rain have already
fallen. Numerous road closures due to flooding have been reported in
the Freehold and Tinton Falls area. Area creeks and streams continue
to rise sharply in response to the excess runoff. Flash flooding may
be occurring or beginning shortly.
Some locations that could experience flooding include...
Long Branch, Middletown, Howell, Marlboro, Tinton Falls, Holmdel, Red
Bank, Matawan, Highlands, Farmingdale, East Freehold, Robertsville,
West Freehold, Adelphia, Yorketown, Elberon, Navesink, Collingwood
Park, Lincroft and Morganville.
Additional rainfall amounts of up to three-quarters inch are
possible in the warned area.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Turn around...don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Please report flooding to your local law enforcement agency when you
can do so safely.
