...THE FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 845 AM EDT FOR
SOUTHEASTERN SOMERSET AND NORTHWESTERN MIDDLESEX COUNTIES...

At 653 AM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated
thunderstorms producing heavy rain over the warned area. Two to
three inches of rain have already fallen. Flash flooding may be
occurring or beginning shortly. Several area streams, including on
the Middle Brook and Green Brook are rising sharply in response to
the excess runoff.

Some locations that could experience flooding include...
New Brunswick, Somerset, Edison, North Brunswick, Middlesex, Bound
Brook, Manville, Millstone, Society Hill, North Brunswick Township,
Kendall Park, South Plainfield, Highland Park, Metuchen, Dunellen,
Milltown and South Bound Brook.

Additional rainfall amounts of one half inch are possible in the
warned area.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as
well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.

Stay away or be swept away. River banks and culverts can become
unstable and unsafe.

Please report flooding to your local law enforcement agency when you
can do so safely.
