...FLOOD WATCH IS CANCELLED...

Surface high pressure pushed south today across northern New Jersey
and northeast Pennsylvania. This kept the rain to our south all day.
As a result, the region did not pick up the rainfall that was expected.
This rain to our south will slowly track to the north tonight back
across the area, but it's also expected to be on the lighter side.
For these reasons, the Flood Watch has been cancelled.

...FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH SATURDAY AFTERNOON...

The Flood Watch continues for

* Portions of Delaware, northeast Maryland, southern New Jersey,
  and Pennsylvania, including the following areas, in Delaware,
  Delaware Beaches, Inland Sussex, Kent, and New Castle. In
  northeast Maryland, Caroline, Cecil, Kent MD, Queen Annes, and
  Talbot. In southern New Jersey, Atlantic, Atlantic Coastal
  Cape May, Camden, Cape May, Coastal Atlantic, Coastal Ocean,
  Cumberland, Gloucester, Northwestern Burlington, Ocean, Salem,
  and Southeastern Burlington. In Pennsylvania, Berks, Delaware,
  Eastern Chester, Eastern Montgomery, Philadelphia, Western
  Chester, and Western Montgomery.

* Through Saturday afternoon

* Rain has fallen across southern New Jersey and the Delmarva for
  much of the day. Over three inches have fallen in spots today
  alone. This is on top of the rainfall that occurred the last few
  days. The rain hasn't been as steady across southeastern
  Pennsylvania nor central New Jersey. Periods of rain remain in
  the forecast tonight through Saturday. Going forward, another
  inch can be expected.

* With the heaviest rain falling across southern Delaware and the
  adjacent Maryland Eastern Shore last night and today, the threat
  of mainstem river flooding across New Jersey and southern
  Pennsylvania has diminished. Low lying and poor drainage can
  still be expected to develop through Saturday. Flash flooding
  also remains possible as thunderstorms are expected on Saturday.
  Continue to keep an eye on later forecasts. All of our
  hydrologic forecasts can be accessed via our Advanced Hydrologic
  Prediction Service website. While the threat of mainstem river
  flooding has indeed diminished, it has not been completely
  eliminated.

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.
