Snow is occurring in the southern Poconos and has spread into
northwest New Jersey in the past couple of hours. Snowfall rates
will increase this morning, reaching half-inch to inch per hour
rates this afternoon and evening. Travel is strongly discouraged.

...Major winter storm in progress...

A band of moderate to heavy snow has set up from Berks and Chester
Counties east-northeast to the Trenton area to Middlesex and
western Monmouth Counties. One to two inch per hour snow rates are
occurring within this band, with the heaviest snow in portions of
the Lehigh Valley and adjacent portions of Upper Bucks and western
Montgomery Counties. This band may persist for much of the
morning, with snow totals of four to six inches probable in
portions of eastern Pennsylvania by noon. Travel is strongly
discouraged.

Precipitation is transitioning to freezing rain and sleet in
southern Delaware with sleet and snow occurring in adjacent
eastern Maryland. Rain will begin to transition to freezing rain
and sleet late this morning along the New Jersey coast, with snow
mixing in by afternoon. Travel conditions will likely deteriorate
rapidly this afternoon.
