The National Weather Service in Mount Holly NJ has issued a
* Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for...
Berks County in eastern Pennsylvania...
Northwestern Montgomery County in southeastern Pennsylvania...
Chester County in southeastern Pennsylvania...
* Until 145 AM EDT.
* At 850 PM EDT, the leading edge of light to moderate rain showers
were moving northeastward into southeastern Pennsylvania. These
showers are expected to increase in intensity and coverage through
the remainder of the evening. Scattered embedded thunderstorms
will also move into the area and contain heavy downpours. Locally
heavy rainfall will cause urban and small stream flooding in the
advisory area later this evening.
* Some locations that could experience flooding include...
Reading, West Chester, Pottstown, Phoenixville, Coatesville,
Wyomissing, Downingtown, Kennett Square, Birdsboro, Collegeville,
Oxford, Kutztown, Royersford, Hamburg, Fleetwood, Sinking Spring,
Laureldale, Parkesburg, Trappe and East Greenville.
Additional rainfall of 1 to 2 inches is possible over the area. This
additional rain will result in minor flooding. However, much of the
area is still vulnerable to flash flooding following the recent
rounds of excessive rainfall over the past several weeks. Therefore,
please monitor local radio stations and available television
stations for additional information and possible warnings from the
National Weather Service.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
Stay away or be swept away. River banks and culverts can become
unstable and unsafe.
A Flood Advisory means river or stream flows are elevated, or ponding
of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent.
