...THE FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1230 PM EDT FOR
OCEAN...NORTHEASTERN BURLINGTON AND SOUTHEASTERN MONMOUTH COUNTIES...
At 920 AM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated
slow-moving showers and thunderstorms producing heavy rain over the
warned area. Two to four inches of rain have already fallen in the
area with most widespread heavy rain occurring in central Ocean
County and southeastern Monmouth County. Numerous road closures were
reported by emergency management in Monmouth County. Expect more
instances of flash flooding to occur shortly as heavy rain continues
in these areas.
Some locations that could experience flooding include...
Toms River, Long Branch, Asbury Park, Lakewood, Jackson, Howell,
Barnegat, Tinton Falls, Red Bank, Beachwood, Manasquan, Point
Pleasant Beach, Tuckerton, Presidential Lakes Estates, Seaside
Heights, Lakehurst, Pemberton, Farmingdale, Surf City and
Wrightstown.
Additional rainfall amounts of 2 to 3 are possible, particularly in
northern Ocean County and in Monmouth County.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Turn around...don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Please report flooding to your local law enforcement agency when you
can do so safely.
