URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE

...A MAJOR WINTER STORM WILL CONTINUE TO IMPACT OUR REGION...

.A still intensifying storm at the entrance to Delaware Bay at 9 AM
will move off to southeastern New England this evening. The storm
will continue to produce a nasty mix of hazardous conditions to
much of our region through midday. Blizzard conditions are likely
to occur for a few hours in east central and northeast Pennsylvania
as well as northwestern quarter of New Jersey, where snowfall
rates of 2 to 4 inches per hour are forecast late this morning and
midday.

The National Weather Service in Mount Holly has issued a Winter
Weather Advisory for ice which is in effect until 4 PM EDT this
afternoon. The Winter Storm Warning has been cancelled.

* LOCATIONS...Ocean County.

* HAZARD TYPES...heavy rain changing to sleet and freezing rain
  during midday and ending during mid afternoon.

* ACCUMULATIONS...less than one tenth inch glaze and sleet.

* TIMING...Temperatures will drop to near 30 degrees during
  midday and change remaining precipitation to sleet or freezing
  rain.

* IMPACTS...Ice accumulations will create patches of treacherous
  driving conditions during midday. Strong winds will lead to
  power outages.

* WINDS...North 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 55 mph.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow...sleet...or

* LOCATIONS...Eastern Pennsylvania and northern New Jersey.

* HAZARD TYPES...Heavy snow and strong winds.

* ACCUMULATIONS...Snow accumulation of 18 to 24 inches, along
  with around a trace of ice.

* TIMING...Heavy snow will continue through the morning and into
  part of the afternoon. Snowfall rates of three to four inches
  per hour are expected for an hour or two between now and 2 PM.
  The snow will diminish considerably late in the day.

* IMPACTS...Snow and ice accumulations will make many roads
  treacherous and impassable. The weight of the snow and ice on
  tree limbs and power lines could produce isolated outages.
  Strong winds will lead to blowing snow, reduced visibility,
  and additional power outages.

* WINDS...North 20 to 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph.

* VISIBILITIES...One quarter mile or less at times.

* TEMPERATURES...In the 20s.

This Blizzard Warning means that severe winter weather conditions
are occurring. Falling and blowing snow with strong winds and
poor visibility are likely. This will lead to white-out

  mid afternoon.

* ACCUMULATIONS...Snow accumulation of 2 to 4 inches, along with
  around one quarter to one third of an inch of ice.

* TIMING...Mixed heavy amounts of wintry precipitation will
  continue this morning, possibly ending as snow between Noon
  and 3 PM.

* IMPACTS...Ice and snow accumulations will create treacherous
  driving conditions. The weight of the ice and snow on tree
  limbs and power lines could produce numerous outages. Strong
  winds will lead to blowing snow, reduced visibility, and

  morning when mixed precipitation changes back to all snow.
  Snow will diminish considerably during mid afternoon.
