...SLIPPERY TRAVEL WITH BLACK ICE ON AREA ROADS TONIGHT...
Icy spots will continue tonight across northeastern Pennsylvania
and northern New Jersey, where a wintry mix had occurred on
Sunday. Farther south across central New Jersey and the
southeastern Pennsylvania, especially the suburbs to the north and
west suburbs of Philadelphia, any moisture on untreated roads
that was left over from the rain that fell, will likely freeze
late this evening as temperatures drop below freezing.
Temperatures will likely rise above freezing briefly overnight across
most of the region as winds pick up behind a frontal passage.
However, a re-freeze is expected during the early morning once the
colder air arrives from northwest to southeast. Icy patches of
black ice may lead to slippery travel for the morning commute.
Use caution if traveling tonight. Secondary roads, bridges, and
overpasses are the most prone to becoming icy. Reduce speed and
keep a safe following distance when driving in case you encounter
icy conditions.
